DAY 01 CUSCO- LAGO HUMANTAY – AGUAS CALIENTES
Pick up from your hotel between 4:00 and 4:30 AM to leave our adventure. We will travel approximately 2 hours to the town of Mollepata, located in the lush valley of the Apurímac River. In Mollepata, we will have a breakfast and prepare for our next walk. Our journey will continue towards Soraypampa. Here we will begin our walk to Humantay Lake, which is located at an altitude of 4,200 meters. If the hike is too challenging, you can rent a horse to get to the top (you can decide this on the way). After about 1.5 hours of hiking, you will see Humantay Lake, considered sacred in Inca mythology, and once you see it, it is easy to understand why. After visiting the glacier lake, you will hike back and return to Mollepata for a delicious and hearty lunch. After lunch, we will return to Poroy. In Poroy, your private transportation will be waiting for you to continue to Ollantaytambo, where your train will depart at 7:00 PM or 9:00 PM to Aguas Calientes. After the 2-hour train ride, you will spend the night at a selected hotel
DAY 02 MACHU PICCHU – RETURN TO CUSCO
Today you will visit Machu Picchu! You will get up early to have breakfast at the hotel and then you will travel to the bus station to try to catch one of the first buses, which will start running at 5:30 AM. The bus will take about 25 minutes to get to Machu Picchu. You can also hike to the ruins, which are about an hour’s walk. If you choose this option, you must leave your hotel before 4 am. As soon as you arrive at Machu Picchu, your guide will be waiting for you and will take you to the best place to contemplate the ruins and get a panoramic view of the landscape. There will be an appointment to watch the sunrise in order to get a spectacular view of the Lost City of the Incas. You will then have a 2 hour guided tour of Machu Picchu, and then you will have plenty of free time to explore on your own. If you have tickets to climb the beautiful Huayna Picchu mountain, your guide will direct you to where the trek begins.
Once you are done exploring all that Machu Picchu has to offer, you will take a bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch. You will take a train in the afternoon back to Ollantaytambo and from there the bus to Cusco, where you will be dropped off at your hotel.
